Grid Heap legal
Purchase Terms and Refund Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-13
This page covers purchases made on heap.page, which is operated by Grid Heap, Inc.: how refunds work (Sections 1 to 7) and the terms for domain names, phone numbers, the prepaid balance, and paid tool runs (Sections 8 to 11). Sections 8 to 11 were previously Sections 12 to 15 of the heap.page Terms of Use; their wording is unchanged except that their cross-references now point to the Grid Heap Terms of Use.
This page is part of the Grid Heap Terms of Use as they apply to heap.page (https://www.gridheap.com/legal/terms#heap). In Sections 8 to 11, "these Terms" means those Terms together with this page, and "the Refund Policy" means Sections 1 to 7. Words such as balance, credit back, and paid run have the meaning given in Sections 9 to 11.
Nothing on this page limits a refund or remedy that applicable law gives you.
1. Asking for a refund
Ask for a refund through the private heap.page support form. Include your account email, what you bought, and the transaction reference from your receipt. Never include full card details.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Once a refund is issued, your bank or card issuer decides when it appears on your statement, usually within 5 to 10 business days. Please contact support before disputing a charge with your card issuer; most billing errors can be fixed faster than a dispute.
2. Domain registrations, renewals, and transfers
Grid Heap is the seller of domain orders and issues domain refunds through Stripe. A domain registration, renewal, or transfer is non-refundable once the registrar confirms it, except in the cases below or where the law requires a refund.
Automatic full refunds
If a paid domain order cannot be completed, Grid Heap refunds the full payment, including tax, to your original payment method. You do not need to ask, and you receive an email when the refund is issued. This happens when:
- the registrar price went up, or the name's premium status changed, after you paid and before the order was submitted;
- the registrar quote, the premium price acceptance, or registrar funding could not be confirmed after you paid;
- registrations were paused at the registrar, so the order was not submitted;
- the registrar rejected the order before submission, or repeated submissions were not accepted and no domain order was created;
- the registrar reported that it could not complete the order;
- an automatic renewal was charged after the renewal had already been replaced by another order.
Partial refund when the price drops
If the registrar price goes down after you pay and before the order is submitted, including for an automatic renewal, the order goes ahead and the difference, with the matching share of tax, is refunded automatically to your payment method.
Orders under review
If the registrar's response is lost, the payment does not match the order, or the outcome cannot otherwise be confirmed automatically, the order is placed under review and is not submitted again. Grid Heap then completes the order or refunds it. If review cannot confirm that the domain was registered, renewed, or transferred to you, Grid Heap refunds the full payment.
When fees are not refunded
Fees are not refunded when a registered domain is transferred away, allowed to expire, or suspended or cancelled under a dispute policy, a registry or registrar action, or for inaccurate contact data. Automatic renewal can be turned off at any time before a renewal payment starts; once a renewal has been charged and completed, it follows the same rules as a manual renewal.
A domain checkout that is not paid within one hour expires and nothing is charged. If Grid Heap charged you in error or more than once, see Section 6.
3. Phone numbers
Phone numbers are sold and fulfilled by NumberBarn, which charges you in its own checkout. NumberBarn's refund and cancellation terms apply to those purchases, and any refund is issued by NumberBarn. The same applies to NumberBarn's one-time $3 Ownership Transfer fee and any NumberBarn monthly fee.
If a heap.page order needs attention, contact support with your NumberBarn receipt and we will help resolve it with NumberBarn. This includes a payment that could not be matched to your order, activation that does not complete, port-out credentials that do not become available, or an ownership transfer that does not complete. If a number bought through the embedded checkout cannot be delivered to you, support will work with NumberBarn to complete the transfer or arrange a refund of the purchase.
If a phone-number purchase is refunded, any credit back granted for it is removed from your balance, or, if you have already spent it, may be deducted from future credit back.
A paid phone-number lookup is a tool run and follows Section 5.
4. Prepaid balance
Balance top-ups are sold through Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe as merchant of record. Refunds of a top-up are issued through Stripe to the original payment method.
Unused balance
You can ask for a refund of unused purchased balance within the refund window that Stripe applies to Managed Payments purchases. Ask through heap.page support, or request a refund of the top-up through Link, Stripe's checkout and order management for these purchases. Support reviews each request and handles the refund.
heap.page reverses a refunded top-up as a whole: its full amount is removed from your balance. Before processing a request, support will confirm the refund amount and how it affects your remaining balance.
Outside that window, unused balance is non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund, where Grid Heap charged you in error, or where Grid Heap closes your account or stops offering paid tools for a reason other than your breach of the Terms.
Balance left in your account when you delete it is forfeited and is not refunded after the account is deleted. Request any refund you are eligible for before you delete your account.
Spent balance and credit back
Balance spent on completed tool runs is not refunded, except where a run was charged in error. Credit back earned on a phone-number purchase has no cash value and is never refunded to a card.
Chargebacks
If you dispute a top-up with your card issuer, the full amount of that top-up is removed from your balance and paid tools may be unavailable while your available balance is $0. Contact support about your balance once the dispute is resolved.
5. Paid tool runs
Paid tool runs are paid from your balance, and the protections below apply automatically.
- Failed runs are not charged. The reserved amount returns to your balance automatically.
- A run that never completes is released automatically, ordinarily within 15 minutes, or within 24 hours for AI Icon & Mascot Studio.
- AI Icon & Mascot Studio charges one $1.00 run for six draws if at least one draw succeeds, and releases the reservation if all six fail.
- A request retried with the same request identifier is charged at most once.
- A phone-number lookup that finds no information is not charged.
- A completed run is not refunded because the result was unsatisfying. If a completed run was charged but you did not receive its output, contact support and we will review the charge.
6. Billing errors and duplicate charges
If Grid Heap charged you in error, charged you twice, or charged a different amount from the one shown before payment, contact support with the transaction reference. Grid Heap corrects a confirmed error by refunding the difference to the original payment method. For a top-up, the refund is issued through Stripe as merchant of record.
7. Changes to this policy
Grid Heap updates this Refund Policy when products, providers, or legal requirements change. The version and effective date at the top identify the policy that applies. A change does not reduce the refund rights that applied to a purchase completed before the change took effect.
8. Domain name registration services
This section applies when you search for, register, renew, transfer, or manage a domain name through heap.page. Section 6 (Disclaimers), Section 7 (Limitation of liability), and Section 11 (Dispute resolution) of the Grid Heap Terms of Use also apply to domain services.
Who registers your domain
Grid Heap sells domain registrations, renewals, and transfers on heap.page and places them through its Domain Control Plane with Dynadot Inc, an ICANN-accredited registrar, which is the registrar of record for domains ordered through heap.page. Grid Heap acts as a reseller of Dynadot and is not itself a registrar or registry. A registry operator administers each top-level domain and sets its own rules.
Search results, availability indicators, and price comparisons are informational. A domain is registered, renewed, or transferred only when the registrar confirms the order. Grid Heap does not guarantee that a name shown as available can be registered or that a name is free of trademark or other third-party rights. Comparison listings for other registrars are separate from heap.page's own checkout.
Registration agreement and ICANN policies
By ordering a domain you also agree to Dynadot's Terms of Use, including its domain registration agreement, published at https://www.dynadot.com/terms-of-use, and to the policies of the applicable registry and of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), as amended from time to time. If those documents conflict with these Terms about the registration itself, they control to the extent required.

Registrant and contact information
You are the registrant of each domain you order. You enter the registrant contact at checkout, including name, email, phone, postal address, country, and any registry-specific fields the extension requires, and heap.page uses that contact for the registrant, administrative, technical, and billing roles. You must provide accurate, complete, and current information and update it promptly through your domain controls. Under ICANN policy, false or inaccurate contact information, or failure to respond to a verification request, can lead to suspension or cancellation of the domain.
You confirm that you have the right to use the name you register and that neither the registration nor your use of the name infringes anyone's rights or violates law. You are responsible for the domain's use, including content and services you operate under it.
Disputes over a domain name
Domains are subject to the UDRP and to any dispute policy the registry adopts, such as the Uniform Rapid Suspension System for certain extensions. A domain can be locked, suspended, transferred, or cancelled as a result of a dispute proceeding, a court order, or a registry or registrar action. Grid Heap does not decide domain-name disputes.
WHOIS, RDAP, and privacy
Registration data is published or withheld under the registrar's and registry's policies and applicable law. Where an extension supports it, you can choose a privacy setting of Full, Partial, or Off at checkout and change it later in your domain controls. heap.page does not charge for the privacy setting.
Privacy does not prevent disclosure to the registrar, the registry, ICANN, law enforcement, or a party entitled to the data under a dispute policy or legal process.
- Full: your name, email, phone, and address are hidden from public WHOIS and RDAP lookups.
- Partial: some of your contact details become publicly visible.
- Off: your contact details become visible to anyone who looks them up in public WHOIS and RDAP.
Price, payment, and tax
Domain orders are paid through standard Stripe Checkout, with Grid Heap as the seller. The price shown before payment covers the registrar's cost plus an amount that covers Stripe's card processing fee. Any applicable tax is calculated by Stripe Tax from your billing address and added on the payment page. Domain orders cannot be paid from your prepaid heap.page balance.
- Registrations and renewals are sold in whole years within the limits the extension allows, currently 1 to 10 years. A transfer-in is sold for 1 year.
- Premium names carry a registry-set price, and you must expressly accept the quoted premium price before checkout.
- A checkout that is not paid within one hour expires without charge.
- If the registrar price goes up, or a name's premium status changes, after you pay but before the order is submitted, the order is not submitted and your payment is refunded in full.
- If the registrar price goes down after you pay but before the order is submitted, the order goes ahead and the difference, with the matching share of tax, is refunded to your payment method.
Automatic renewal
Automatic renewal is optional and off unless you turn it on. If you turn it on at checkout, Stripe saves the card you pay with, and you authorize Grid Heap to charge that card each year to renew the domain for one year at the then-current renewal price plus applicable tax. Automatic renewal turns on only if Stripe confirms that the card was saved.
Grid Heap first tries to charge the saved card about 30 days before the domain expires. If a charge fails, it is retried, for up to six attempts in total at about 30, 23, 16, 9, 5, and 2 days before expiry. A card decline that the issuer marks as final, or a bank request to confirm the payment, ends the retries. You receive an email after each failed attempt and should then renew manually. Tax on each automatic renewal is calculated from the billing address saved with your card; if Stripe cannot use that address, nothing is charged and you are asked to renew manually.
Premium domains are never renewed automatically. When a premium domain is due, nothing is charged and you receive an email asking you to renew it manually.
You can turn automatic renewal off at any time in Settings or My domains. Removing your saved card turns it off for all your domains. A renewal payment that is already being charged cannot be cancelled. heap.page never turns on the registrar's own automatic renewal for your domain.
Renewal reminders and expiry
If a domain is not set to renew automatically, or its automatic renewal failed, heap.page emails renewal reminders before it expires, currently about 30, 7, and 1 day before the expiry date shown in your domain list. You are responsible for renewing in time.
If a domain is not renewed, it can stop resolving and may be deleted, released, or offered to others. Recovery after expiry, where available, is governed by the registrar's policies and the ICANN Expired Registration Recovery Policy and may carry an additional registrar or registry fee. A domain past its renewal window cannot be renewed automatically; contact support to ask about recovery.
Transfers and authorization codes
To transfer a domain to heap.page, the extension must support transfers, the domain must be unlocked at your current registrar, and you must supply its authorization code. Transfers can take several days and complete only when the losing registrar and registry release the domain. A transfer can be refused or delayed under the ICANN Transfer Policy, for example shortly after a registration, a prior transfer, or a change of registrant, while a dispute is pending, or when the domain is locked or near expiry.
You may transfer a domain away whenever the applicable policies permit. Your domain controls let you view the domain's transfer authorization code and change its registrar lock. Keep authorization codes confidential, because anyone holding one can request a transfer. When a domain leaves your heap.page account, heap.page renewals and reminders for it stop. Fees for the current registration term are not refunded when a domain is transferred away.
Management and our role
Changes to contacts, nameservers, DNS records, DNSSEC, registrar lock, privacy, and renewal settings are made through your account and carry no heap.page charge. You are responsible for changes made through your account; a DNS or DNSSEC misconfiguration can make a domain or its email unreachable.
Grid Heap relies on the registrar and registry to perform registrations, renewals, and transfers and is not responsible for their acts or omissions, outages, policy changes, or price changes, except where the law does not permit that limitation. Grid Heap may refuse or cancel an order before it is submitted to the registrar, and may hold an order for review when payment, registrar confirmation, or order status cannot be verified automatically. An order under review is not submitted again; it is completed or refunded as described in the Refund Policy.
9. Phone numbers
This section applies when you search for or buy a phone number through heap.page and when you use the paid phone-number lookup.
Sold and fulfilled by NumberBarn
Phone numbers on heap.page are sold and fulfilled by NumberBarn, an independent provider. For US local numbers, you buy in NumberBarn's checkout embedded on heap.page; NumberBarn confirms the final price, collects your payment details, and charges you. For other numbers, including Canadian, United Kingdom, and US toll-free numbers, the purchase continues on NumberBarn's own website and heap.page has no further part in it. Some listings also carry a NumberBarn monthly fee, shown with the listing. NumberBarn's own terms and privacy practices apply to the purchase, and Grid Heap does not receive your card details.
No charge is made until you confirm payment in NumberBarn's checkout. Grid Heap receives a share of NumberBarn's proceeds from sales made through heap.page.
Default fulfilment: transfer to your own carrier
For a number bought in the embedded checkout, the default fulfilment is a direct port: the number is activated in the NumberBarn partner account Grid Heap holds and made ready for you to port to a carrier of your choice.
- You must be signed in to heap.page with a verified email address. The purchase is tied to that account and email.
- heap.page matches your NumberBarn payment to your order. If a payment cannot be matched automatically, the order is verified manually and you may be asked to contact support with your receipt.
- If no matching payment is found within 24 hours of starting checkout, the pending heap.page order expires. This does not cancel a payment you made to NumberBarn; contact support with your receipt.
- After the payment is confirmed, the number is activated for transfer, which usually takes up to one business day. If activation does not complete, the order is flagged for support to resolve.
- When the number is ready, heap.page emails you and lets you reveal the port-out account number and transfer PIN in Settings, up to five times a day. heap.page does not store these credentials, and will never ask for your PIN by email or phone.
- You give the credentials to your new carrier, which starts and controls the port. Carriers usually complete a port within a few business days, and your new carrier may charge for its service.
Optional: move the number into your own NumberBarn account
Instead of porting to a carrier, you can ask heap.page to move the number into your own NumberBarn account through NumberBarn's Ownership Transfer. To request it, contact support with the email address for your NumberBarn account. If you do not have one, NumberBarn creates an account for that email, and you must accept the transfer the next time you log in to NumberBarn.
NumberBarn charges a one-time $3 transfer fee and bills it to you as the new owner; heap.page does not charge for the transfer. heap.page starts the transfer after we verify your purchase, usually within one business day.
Credit back on phone-number purchases
Eligible phone-number purchases made while signed in to heap.page earn credit back to your heap.page prepaid balance: up to 10% of the purchase price, funded from heap.page's share of the sale, and only when the credit is at least $3. We add the credit after we verify your purchase. The credit has no cash value, can only be used for heap.page tools, and may be reversed if the purchase is refunded or doesn't complete.
Your responsibilities
Until a port or ownership transfer completes, the number stays in the NumberBarn account and its use is subject to NumberBarn's terms. Grid Heap does not guarantee that a carrier will accept a port or complete it within any period. Please start your transfer promptly; heap.page sends a reminder if a number has been ready for 30 days without a transfer.
- Choose a carrier that accepts the number, and give it accurate port-out details.
- Keep the port-out credentials confidential; anyone holding them can move the number.
- Use the number lawfully, including telemarketing, messaging-registration, and emergency-calling rules that apply to you.
Phone-number lookups
The paid phone-number lookup returns routing and carrier information for a single number using data from Telnyx. It costs $1.00 from your prepaid balance per completed lookup, and a lookup that finds no information is not charged. A lookup does not verify identity, ownership, reachability, consent, or eligibility for authentication messages, and does not reveal a device's location. Information can be incomplete or out of date. Use lookups only for lawful purposes, and never to harass, track, or unlawfully identify a person.
10. Prepaid balance
The prepaid balance is a US-dollar balance in your heap.page account that pays for heap.page tool runs. You need to be signed in to buy or use it.
Buying balance
You can add balance in the amounts offered at checkout, currently $10, $20, $50, or $100. Top-ups are sold through Stripe Managed Payments, so Stripe, through its Link checkout, is the merchant of record for the payment: Stripe processes the payment, calculates and collects any tax, issues the receipt, and handles transaction-level support and disputes under its own terms. Checkout may show the price in your local currency, but your balance is always credited in US dollars for the amount you chose. The balance is added once Stripe confirms the payment.
What the balance is
The balance is a prepayment for heap.page tools that show a price before you run them, at $1.00 of balance per paid run. It cannot be used for domain orders, phone-number purchases, subscriptions, or third-party products. It is not a deposit, bank account, gift card, or currency, and it earns no interest.
The balance does not expire.
The balance belongs to the heap.page account that bought or earned it. It cannot be transferred, sold, or combined with another account's balance, and it cannot be redeemed for cash except as the Refund Policy states or the law requires.
Refunds, reversals, and disputes
Refunds of unused balance are described in the Refund Policy. A refund or reversal applies to a whole top-up: when a top-up is refunded, reversed, or disputed with your card issuer, its full amount is removed from your balance. If you already spent some of it, your available balance shows $0 and paid tools stay unavailable until the shortfall is covered by a new top-up. Credit back earned on a phone-number purchase is removed if that purchase is refunded or does not complete.
Account closure
If Grid Heap closes your account or stops offering paid tools for a reason other than your breach of these Terms, Grid Heap will refund your unused purchased balance through support. If you ask to close your account, you can request a refund of unused balance under the Refund Policy before it closes. Credit back has no cash value and is not refunded. Balance left in your account when it is deleted, purchased or earned, is forfeited and cannot be refunded or restored afterward, so use it, or request any refund you are eligible for, before you delete your account.
11. Paid tool runs
Each paid tool shows its price before you run it and is paid from your prepaid balance. You cannot start a paid run if your available balance is below its price.
Current paid tools
Each paid run costs $1.00 of balance unless the tool shows otherwise.
- AI Headshot Studio: $1.00 per successful generation run.
- AI Icon & Mascot Studio: $1.00 per run of six independent draws.
- Cover Maker: $1.00 per selected platform; local exports have no charge.
- Phone Number Lookup: $1.00 per completed lookup.
- AI domain naming: $1.00 per AI domain search.
Reserve, charge, and release
When you start a run, heap.page reserves its price from your balance. The reservation becomes a charge only when the run completes. If a run fails, the reserved amount returns to your balance automatically and you are not charged, whether the failure comes from heap.page, the model provider, or a timeout. A reservation for a run that never completes is released automatically, ordinarily within 15 minutes, or within 24 hours for AI Icon & Mascot Studio. A run that finishes after its reservation was released is delivered without charge.
AI Icon & Mascot Studio charges one $1.00 run for six independent draws. The reservation is released only if all six draws fail; any successful draw completes the charged run.
Each run carries a unique request identifier. A repeated or retried request with the same identifier is charged at most once: a repeat is refused while the original run is in progress, and is not run again once it has finished.
Outputs
Generated images, names, and other outputs are produced by automated models. They may be inaccurate, resemble outputs made for others, or be unsuitable for your purpose, and a completed run is charged whether or not you like the result. Check outputs yourself before using them, including for trademark, copyright, and likeness rights. Domain-name suggestions are not checked for availability or trademark conflicts.
You are responsible for the inputs you provide, including photos of people, and must have the right to use them. As between you and Grid Heap, you may use the outputs of your completed runs for any lawful purpose, and Grid Heap claims no ownership of them; Grid Heap does not promise that an output is unique or protectable. How inputs and outputs are stored is described in the Privacy Policy.
