What it does
Shortcut connects software delivery work to product plans in a shared tracker. Stories, workflows, iterations, epics, objectives and documents help engineering and product teams move from an idea to implementation while keeping progress visible to the wider organization.
- Track development work as stories. Teams organize issues and tasks with workflows and customizable views, then move them through the stages used by their process. Kanban boards and backlog views help distinguish active work from future priorities without requiring every team to use the same planning style.
- Plan focused iterations and manage flow. Iterations group the work a team wants to complete in a time-boxed cycle. Work-in-progress limits can constrain how many stories accumulate in a workflow state, giving teams a way to notice bottlenecks instead of continually adding more parallel work.
- Connect execution to product goals. Epics and projects bring related stories together, while objectives align that work with broader company goals. Shared target dates and health status help product and leadership teams understand what is progressing and where a plan may need attention across multiple teams.
- Keep planning documents linked to delivery. Shortcut Docs supports shared or private documents, real-time editing and embedded tools such as Figma or Loom. A team can create or connect stories, epics and objectives from a document so specifications and retrospectives stay connected to the work they describe.
- Automate updates from engineering tools. Integrations with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket connect version-control activity to the tracker, with additional integrations such as Slack and Sentry. An API supports custom workflows when a team's internal process requires more than the available built-in connections.
- Include agents in the workflow. Shortcut describes its Korey agent and MCP connection for tools such as Cursor and Claude Code, bringing task scoping and implementation work into the tracker. Teams can follow work by people and agents together while keeping permissions and review responsibility with their process.
Check before you buyCheck which planning, identity, automation and agent features are included in the selected plan. Define workflow ownership and agent permissions before importing a backlog or allowing integrations to update production work.
