What it does
Mintlify hosts documentation for software teams, human developers and AI agents. It combines a documentation site and API reference with editing, search and assistant workflows, helping teams keep product knowledge accessible as the underlying software and APIs change.
- Publish a maintained documentation website. Teams organize guides and reference material in a hosted site with reusable components and navigation. Repository, editing, preview and deployment workflows connect the documentation to normal software delivery, reducing the gap between a code change and its explanation for users.
- Generate API reference from a specification. OpenAPI-driven reference pages provide a structured way to describe endpoints and keep details aligned with an evolving API. An interactive playground lets a developer try supported requests in the documentation, making it easier to understand a response before building a separate client.
- Help readers find answers in context. Search and an AI assistant provide paths from a question to relevant documentation. The assistant can support self-service exploration, but its generated responses may be wrong, so teams should maintain clear source material and a route to support when a reader remains blocked.
- Make documentation available to agents. The platform describes agent-oriented access and structured discovery such as llms.txt, alongside its broader knowledge and indexing tools. This gives automated consumers a way to find product information while keeping the underlying documentation useful for people reviewing or implementing the same API.
- Connect changes and releases to the docs. Changelog and versioning workflows surface API changes near the reference material, helping users notice breaking changes. The official Kalshi case study illustrates spec-driven generation and CI/CD synchronization, while planned customer workflows should not be assumed to be enabled in every workspace.
- Manage team collaboration and access. Editing workflows, integrations and access controls support internal contributors and protected documentation. Analytics and feedback can inform what to improve next, while AI actions and collaboration capabilities have plan or credit implications that teams should check before enabling large-scale automated updates.
Check before you buyReview generated answers and edits before publishing. Check access controls, integration permissions, AI credit prices and deployment limits. API playground requests can affect a real account unless the documented endpoint and credentials are explicitly safe for testing.
