• Build layouts that respond to content. Auto layout and grid tools help frames resize, reflow and maintain spacing as text or components change. This lets a team explore realistic interface states and responsive arrangements instead of manually moving every object after each copy or structure change.
• Maintain a reusable design system. Components, variables, styles and modes provide shared rules for elements such as color, spacing and typography. Libraries distribute those foundations across teams or brands, helping designers apply consistent patterns and update repeated UI without rebuilding every instance separately.
• Test ideas with interactive prototypes. Figma's design and prototyping workflows let teams review an experience before implementation. Figma Make adds code-backed prototypes that can be refined through prompts, visual edits or code and embedded into shared files for colleagues to interact with and discuss.
• Bring design context into development. Dev Mode supports handoff, while Code Connect links design components to implementation code. The Figma MCP server exposes design context such as variables and components to agentic tools, giving developers and assistants information from the actual file when translating a design.
• Extend collaboration and creation. FigJam supports planning and diagrams, and Figma's wider toolset includes presentations, illustration and motion workflows. AI tools can help generate directions or apply edits, but beta availability, seat permissions and AI usage allowances need to be checked for the selected workspace.
